Caseificio Sepertino, which participated with several of its products, received the gold medal in the hard Cheeses category with its “Vej Nostral Piemonteis”, and an impressive five bronze medals with other specialities, including the latest addition to the family: “Nocciolait” cheese obtained with PGI Piedmont Hazelnut.

 

When passion becomes cheese.... This is what we believe in and I am happy that our participation in an international event was so successful.

John Farrand, the general manager of Guild of Fine Food and the organiser of the World Cheese Awards, also expressed his thoughts:

 

The competition was incredibly huge, with far more countries represented than had been in the past. The Taste of London Festive Edition provided a spectacular setting this year, offering the possibility to exhibit the best cheese the world has to offer, all under the same roof as the best food and beverages.  What’s more, the World Cheese Awards had the pleasure of returning to London to celebrate three decades of operation in the dairy sector, before sailing off to new shores in 2018.

 

The cheeses reached their destination by land, air, sea and rail, passing through 12 consolidation centres displaced in all corners of the planet, which then channelled the cheeses toward London from the following countries:  Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia and South Africa. The jury, composed of 230 experts, rounded up more nations than ever before, representing 6 continents and 29 countries including South Africa, Japan, Mexico and the US, tasting, smelling and assigning a score to all 3001 cheeses in one day alone, granting Bronze, Silver, Gold and Super Gold Medals to the winning cheeses.
